Scanning UPCs on the iPhone screen
I was at Kohl's the other day and was in line to pay when I realized I forgot to print out an online coupon (KTC). I asked the lady if she could try scanning the UPC from the coupon I had in my email. She agreed, and it worked! I didn't have anything to actually give to her at that point (usually they take the paper coupon) so I don't know if that complied with Kohl's policies, but regardless, it worked. So if you get coupons in your email and you have an iPhone or some other smart phone, give it a try. Maybe you'll save a tree.

Get google My Maps on iPhone… kinda of
I went to NYC last week and wanted to add some landmarks we wanted to visit onto a Google My Map so I can view the map on my iPhone. Unfortunately, after I spent the time adding landmarks to the map, I found that you can not use My Maps on the iPhone. I did find this handy page that will overlay your favorites onto your iPhone maps. Follow the directions on the page.
Here is a link to the map I made.
iPhone MMS. Finally.
It seems the iPhone MMS roll-out was successful. I haven't heard of any fires or major outages. To enable MMS all I had to do was fire up iTunes with the iPhone plugged in, click update when prompted, then reboot the phone. Nice work (finally). My first messages to 2 Verizon phones with seemingly no delay or error as did my third message to another iPhone on AT&T.
Between the Gmail Push and MMS, this week has been pretty big for the iPhone. I don't think there is anything left to look forward too. LOL :-/
Gmail push for iPhone
So as not to disappoint Axorr Rully, Google enabled Google Sync with Gmail Push today. It works well so far. I already had Push enabled for my Contacts and Calendar, so I only had to:
- Go to Settings.
- Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Google Exchange account (has Contacts, Calendars)
- Turn Mail on, set Mail days to sync, and Mail folders to Push (I chose No limit and Inbox respectively)
That's it! I opted to turn Push ON under Fetch new data and I opted to turn off the IMAP account (not disable in case I decide to go back to it).
